Paula Marie Pearce is a writer, who has worked in communications and marketing for almost 20 years, primarily in the financial and insurance industries. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana, with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Writing.

More than a decade later, she earned her MBA from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. After the loss of her parents and pet in 2016, Paula Marie found a way to share her experience of death with the hopes of making it easier for someone else.
Paula Marie grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois, in a town called Merrillville, Indiana. She is the youngest of six children to Bill and Mary Pearce, but Paula Marie also grew up in the same house as her mother’s parents and sister. Her life on earth started with her surrounded by 10 people. She never had a babysitter that got paid.
Paula Marie brought home her first pet, Mocha, in 2004. Growing up in a house with that many people, the thought of having a pet was not even discussed. Paula Marie often referred to Mocha as “her baby girl.” Following Mocha’s death, she found Shelter from the Storm, a local charity that finds homes for dogs that have been surrendered. It is through this organization, Paula Marie found Granville – “her baby boy” – whom she brought home with her in 2017. She loves all dogs and encourages everyone to experience truly unconditional love of the canine variety.
Paula Marie also self-identifies as someone managing depression and anxiety. Often referring to herself as the “poster child for all things therapy,” Paula Marie believes she’s been blessed with some incredible therapists, who have kept her going even when she wasn’t too keen on the idea herself. This book is another step in encouraging others to find the support they need to live life – not just get through it. Paula Marie currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin, where she considers herself fortunate to be surrounded by friends that have become like family. She remains close with her aunt, siblings and their families, serving as Auntie Paula to a large crew and the next generation of the Pearce clan.
